September team update: projects in progress

Welcome to our September update blog! Over the past month we've been working with partners and co-producers on a range of different projects. You can find out more about what we've been up to below.

What have we been up to?

Hania, Isaac, and partners at Race Equality Foundation and National Voices have hosted two out of five co-design workshops. This is part of the NHS Race & Health Observatory funded project to create a digital living resource that supports health and care organisations to embed anti-racist community participation and co-production throughout their work and services. The next three workshops are taking place in September.  

Asma prepared a short video summary that shares findings from our recent strategy review. The video summarises the feedback we received from our community, partners, research funders, Allies Group members, and Co-Production Collective staff on our values and ambitions from ‘Our Direction 2023-2028.’ The video is now live on our YouTube page.

Asma attended two meetings with the Green Horizons team to discuss the creation of climate action hubs across London and develop an engagement plan for the programme. Green Horizons is a collaborative project funded by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund that aims to develop and test a scalable model of disability-inclusive climate action, with Disabled people recognised as leaders in climate action at local, city and national level.

Rosie attended our second lived experience panel meeting with the Health Protection Research Unit for Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmitted Infections team. Together we looked at shared values, and continued thinking about how lived experience can be embedded within the HPRU’s strategy.

Sarah and the COMMET (CO-Producing Mathematical Models of Epidemics Together) team have been busy planning our second set of workshops to help co-produce a mathematical model of mpox infections.

Rosie and Tania went along to UCL Partner’s first ever Learn and Share event. We were invited to share learnings from our Anti-Racism report, as well as the actions we are taking to work in an anti-discriminatory way. UCL Partners works with founders, clinicians, leaders and funders to invent, adopt and scale health innovations.

Coming up

The Anti-Racism Working Group has its fourth meeting coming up, where we will discuss project updates and plan ahead for the next year, focusing on safeguarding and strategy development.  

Nicc and Asma will be hosting a reflective session for the Green Horizons team in a few weeks, during which they will explore what is working and what isn’t. We hope that this session will foster team building and identify areas for improvement across the programme.  

We will be working with the Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) for Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmitted Infections on an interactive session that brings together the HPRU wider team with the lived experience panel, to share interests and discuss how they will work together.

Rosie is working with the RECENTRE project team to hold a two day research sandpit in the next few weeks. RECENTRE is a project all about understanding what it is like to go through an infection outbreak when you are pregnant, breastfeeding or caring for babies. The aim of the research sandpit is to bring together a wide range of people, including doctors and nurses, researchers, charity staff, and pregnant people and parents of babies, for an interactive workshop to develop new research proposals aimed at bettering preparations for infection outbreaks.

Get involved

As part of our 'Safeguarding and Safe Spaces for Co-Production Statement' we are recruiting for people to join our Oversight Group. The Group will check how safeguarding reports at Co-Production Collective are managed, addressed and reported, including how the person reporting was protected and outcomes for individuals and organisations responsible for the safeguarding concern.
